Introduction-
St. Luke 24:13-43 |
[Updated
NASB]
And behold, two of them were
going that very day
to a village named Emmaus, which was about seven
miles from Jerusalem.
And they were talking with each other about all
these things which had taken place.
While they were talking and discussing, Jesus
Himself approached and began traveling with them.
But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.
And He said to them, "What are these words
that you
are exchanging with one another as you are walking?"
And they stood still, looking sad.
One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said
to Him, "Are You the only one visiting Jerusalem and
unaware of the things which have happened
here in these days?"
And He said to them, "What things?"
And they said to Him,
"The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a
prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of
God and all the people,
and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered
Him to the sentence of death, and crucified Him.
But we were hoping that it was He who was going
to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is
the third day since these things happened.
"But also some women among us amazed us.
When they were at the tomb early in the morning,
and did not find His body, they came, saying that
they had also seen a vision of angels who said that
He was alive.
"Some of those who were with us went to the tomb
and found it just exactly as the women also had
said; but Him they did not see."
And He said to them, "O foolish men and
slow of
heart to believe in all that the prophets
have spoken!
"Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these
things and to enter into His glory?"
Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets,
He explained to them the things concerning Himself
in all the Scriptures.
And they approached the village where they were
going, and He acted as though He were going farther.
But they urged Him, saying,
"Stay with us, for it is getting toward evening,
and the day is nearly over."
So He went in to stay with them.
When He had reclined at the table with them,
He took
the bread and blessed it, and breaking it,
He began giving it to them.
Then their eyes were opened and they recognized
Him; and He vanished from their sight.
They said to one another,
"Were not our hearts burning within us while He was
speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining
the Scriptures to us?"
And they got up that very hour and returned to
Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven
and those who were with them,
saying, "The Lord has really risen and has
appeared to Simon."
They began to relate their experience on the road
and how He was recognized by them in the
breaking of the bread.
While they were telling these things, He Himself
stood in their midst and said to them,
"Peace be to you"
But they were startled and frightened and thought
they were seeing a spirit.
And He said to them, "Why are you
troubled,
and why do doubts arise in your hearts?
"See My hands and My feet, that it is I
myself;
touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have
flesh and bones as you see that I have."
And when He had said this, He showed them
His hands and His feet.
While they still could not believe it because of
their joy and amazement, He said to them,
"Have you anything here to eat?"
They gave Him a piece of a broiled fish;
and He took it and ate it before them.

NASB] St. Mark
12:28-31
One of the scribes came and
heard them arguing,
and recognizing that He had answered them well,
asked Him, "What commandment is foremost of all?"
Jesus answered, "The foremost is, "HEAR, O
ISRAEL!
THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD;
'AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL
YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH
ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.'
"The second is this, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR
AS YOURSELF.' There is no other commandment
greater than these."

6:14-16
But may it never be that
I would boast, except in the
cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the
world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
For neither is circumcision anything, nor
uncircumcision, but a new creation.
And those who will walk by this rule, peace and mercy
be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

11:29-32
For the gifts and the
calling of God are irrevocable.
For just as you once were disobedient to God,
but now have been shown mercy because of their
disobedience,
so these also now have been disobedient, that
because of the mercy shown to you they also may
now be shown mercy.
For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He
may show mercy to all.

NASB] St. Luke
23:34a
But Jesus was saying,
"Father, forgive them;
for they do not know what they are doing."
Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for
light
by day And the fixed order of the moon and stars
for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that
its waves roar;
The LORD
of hosts is His Name:
"If this fixed order departs From
before Me"
declares the LORD, "Then the offspring of Israel
also will cease From being a nation before
Me forever."
Thus says the LORD, "If the heavens above can
be measured And the foundations of the earth
searched out below, Then I will also cast off all
the offspring of Israel For all that they have
done," declares the LORD.

Opening his mouth, Peter
said:
"I most certainly understand now that God is not
one to show partiality,
but in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right
is welcome to Him.
"The word which He sent to the sons of Israel, preaching peace
through Jesus Christ
(He is Lord of all)
you yourselves know the thing which took place through out all
Judea, starting from Galilee, after the baptism which John
proclaimed.
"You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the
Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and
healing all who where
oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
"We are witnesses of all the things He did both in the land of
the Jews and in Jerusalem. They also put Him to death by hanging
Him on a cross.
"God raised Him up on the third day and granted that He become
visible,
not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen
beforehand by God, that is, to us who ate and drank with Him
after He arose from the dead.
And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to
testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as
Judge of the living and the dead.
"Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name
everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins."
While Peter was still speaking these words,
the Holy Spirit fell
upon all those who were
listening to the message.

Point#3
In His name, You are witnesses |
I will tell of Your name to my brethren;
In the midst of the assembly
I will praise You.
You who fear the LORD, praise Him;
(Note Malachi 3:16-17)
All you descendants of Jacob,
glorify Him,
And stand in awe of Him, all you
descendants of Israel.
For He has not despised nor abhorred
the affliction of the afflicted;
Nor has He hidden His face from him;
But when he cried to Him for help,
He heard.
From You comes my praise in the
great assembly;
I shall pay my vows before those
who fear Him.
The afflicted will eat and be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will praise the LORD.
Let your heart live forever!
All the ends of the earth will remember
and turn to the LORD,
And all the families of the nations will
worship before You.
For the kingdom is the LORD's
And He rules over nations.
All the prosperous of the earth will
eat and worship,
All those who go down to the dust
will bow before Him,
Even he who cannot keep his soul alive.
Posterity will serve Him;
It will be told of the Lord to the
coming generation.
They will come and will declare
His righteousness
To a people who will be born,
that He has performed it.

The LORD is my
shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me besides quiet waters.
He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths
of righteousness
For His name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the
presence of my enemies;
You have anointed my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow
me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

NASB]
Beloved, let us love one
another, for love is
from God; and everyone who loves is born of God
and knows God.
The one who does not love does not know God,
for God is love.
By this the love of God was manifested in us,
that God has sent His only begotten Son into
the world so that we might live through Him.
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that
He loved us and sent His Son to be the
propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought
to love one another.
No one has seen God at any time; if we love one
another, God abides in us, and His love is
perfected in us.
By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us,
because He has given us of His Spirit.
We have seen and testify that the Father has
sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God,
God abides in him, and he in God.
We have come to know and have believed the love
which God has for us. God is love, and the one
who abides in love abides in God,
and God abides in him.
By this, love is perfected with us, so that we
may have confidence in the day of judgment;
because as He is, so also are we in this world.

NASB] Jesus said in
our Bible
When Jesus saw the
crowds,
He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down;
His disciples came to Him.
He opened His mouth and began to teach them,
saying,
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is
the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall
be comforted.
Blessed are the gentle, for they shall
inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for
righteousness, for they shall
be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall
receive mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall
see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall
be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who have been persecuted
for the sake of righteousness, for theirs
is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people insult you and
persecute you, and falsely say all kinds
of evil against you because of Me.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel,
for it is the power of God for salvation
to everyone who believes, to the Jew
first and also to the Greek.
